Admission procedure

For the applicant, the admission procedure starts with the delivery of their application to the faculty which is conducting the relevant study programme.

The Technical University of Košice (TUKE) accepts applications only in an electronic version. The applicant for the study at TUKE is no longer obligated to print the electronic application and to send it in a paper form by mail.

The application must be delivered in an electronic form without the advanced electronic signature using the TUKE Academic Information System (IS MAIS), which allows the study applicant to verify registration of the application in IS MAIS from the date of its submission to the last day of the admission procedure.

All attachments can be uploaded in .pdf format to IS MAIS (curriculum vitae, education certificates, school leaving certificate, proof of payment of the admission procedure fee and other attachments according to the faculty requirements).

The school-leaving certificate can be submitted no later than on the day of the enrolment in these ways:

  • bring the original of your school-leaving certificate to a study department of the faculty you are applying for (accuracy of the data will be confirmed by a student department officer),
  • deliver the notarially certified copy of the school-leaving certificate by mail to a study department of the faculty you are applying for.

Notice for applicants from Ukraine:
Recent changes in the Higher Education Act allow people with temporary refuge to have easier access to higher education in bachelor's programs (if you have a properly completed secondary education in Ukraine but do not have a high school diploma, the Technical University of Košice can also accept the secondary school graduate's affidavit and verify its eligibility for university studies.

Applicants who prefer to submit their application in a written form, will be able to do so, and can therefore deliver a written application on an application form prescribed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic.


Applicants with special needs:
If an admission exam is a part of the study admission requirements, upon the applicant´s request and on the basis of their special needs, the admission exam and the method of its execution will be determined taking into consideration the applicant´s special needs.

Information on admission procedure results will be announced to applicants by the faculties, where they applied for the study.


Documents required from foreign applicants for admission procedure for the faculties of the Technical University of Košice

1st level of studies
  1. a completed application for university studies of the first level
  2. a certified copy of the completed secondary education with a certified translation into the Slovak language
  3. the decision on recognition of completed education (validation) issued by the Regional Office Košice, Department of Education, Zádielska 1, 040 33 Košice
  4. a certified copy of the transcript of records covering all the years of secondary education with a certified translation into Slovak. If the length of secondary education studies exceeds four years then a certified copy of transcript of records covering the last four years of study at secondary school is required
  5. Curriculum Vitae in Slovak (or English, according to the language in which the applicant will study) signed by the applicant
  6. a copy of passport
  7. a proof of payment of the handling fee for the admission procedure (can be submitted to the Study department no later than the date of enrolment)
2nd level of studies
  1. a completed application for university studies of the second level
  2. a certified copy of the completed university education of the first level with a certified translation into the Slovak language
  3. the decision on recognition of completed education
  4. a certified copy of the transcript of records in the first level of studies with a certified translation into the Slovak language (Diploma Supplement)
  5. Curriculum Vitae in the Slovak language (or English, according to the language in which the student will study) signed by the applicant
  6. a copy of passport
  7. a proof of payment of the handling fee for the admission procedure (can be submitted to the Study department of the faculty concerned no later than the date of enrolment)
3rd level of studies
  1. a completed application for university studies of the third level
  2. a certified copy of the completed higher education of the second level with a certified translation into the Slovak language
  3. the decision on recognition of completed education
  4. a certified copy of the transcript of records in the second level of studies with a certified translation into the Slovak language (Diploma Supplement)
  5. Curriculum Vitae in the Slovak language (or English, according to the language in which the student will study) signed by the applicant
  6. a copy of passport
  7. a proof of payment of the handling fee for the admission procedure (can be submitted to the Study department of the faculty concerned no later than the date of enrolment)
